UK Ancestral Visas

UK Ancestral Visas are available to Australian or New Zealand citizens aged 17 years and older, who are lucky enough to have a grandparent that was born in the UK.

Who Qualifies for this Visa?

If you're an Australian or New Zealand citizen aged 17 years and older, you can apply for a UK Ancestral Visa as long as you have a grandparent that was born in the UK (including Southern Ireland prior to 31 March 1922).

To apply, you will need to provide original birth certificates for yourself and your parent and grandparent with the UK ancestry. As per most visas, you will also need to demonstrate your intention to work in the UK and give evidence of your maintenance funds to show you can support yourself on arrival in the UK. This is a multiple entry visa that is granted for 5 years and allows you to work and live in the UK throughout this period.

At the conclusion of this 5 year period, current immigration policy allows you to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR), providing you meet certain residency requirements.
