Work Permits and Visas

One of the first things you will need to consider when planning a move to the UK is whether or not you will have the right to work. For those of you that don't hold a British or EU passport, it will mean having to apply for a visa to work in the UK.

The visa categories and qualifying criteria are constantly under review in the UK, so it's always best to seek up to date information before making your decision.  The most typical visas available to people wanting to live and work in the UK are Tier 1, Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme and UK Ancestral Visas.

Tier 1

For highly skilled migrants, the Tier 1 Visa is certainly your best option as it doesn't require sponsorship from a UK employer. It allows you to live and work in the UK for a minimum of two years, with the option of applying for extensions for up to three years.

LATEST NEWS: The UK Border Agency are no longer accepting Tier 1 visa applications from overseas applicants. This is to ensure that they do not exceed the limit set by the UK Government for issued Tier 1 (General) applications between 19 July 2010 and April 2011.

Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme (YMS)

The Tier 5 Youth Mobility Scheme (YMS) visa is the ideal solution for Australians and New Zealanders aged between 18 and 30 (inclusive), who are wanting to work and travel in the UK.

myOE can work with you during the visa application process and help set you up with everything from compliant salary packages offering the best tax rate possible, to support with job hunting, accommodation and networking.
